summary

This book brings together contributions covering the research areas of the CRASC Resrarch Division “Cities and Territories”, which are issues related to the environment, natural hazards, water, public health and the economy", as well as the spatial, demographic, social and economic reality of rural and urban areas, with an approach to current operating modalities and the constraints encountered. It is also part of a multidisciplinary approach, shared within the CRASC both in its research projects and scientific events, as it draws on the analytical tools of geography, architecture, sociology, economics, etc. These contributions have been grouped under three major themes: ecological issues in their theoretical and practical aspects and in relation to the challenges of sustainable and local development in Algeria, in particular those of architecture, desertification, water and agriculture in the Sahara; the issue of migration through 'more traditional' themes, i.e. those that do not take centre stage in the media and politics, such as the socialisation, family and social life of immigrants or theoretical questions in the economics and sociology of migration; finally, the issue of sport in Algeria was addressed through the emigration of Algerian footballers between Algeria and France, as well as from the angle of women's sport. The main aim of this book is to present original works on Algeria, but it is also an opportunity to bring together researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds, from different generations, from within the country and immigrants, in accordance with the CRASC research traditions.
